What factors do you consider when selecting and styling jewellery to compliment yourself and your wardrobe? And, without being boring, how do you make the most of your jewellery collection? Sometimes the answers aren’t obvious. Never fear: we’ve compiled a list of our top 6 jewellery style tips to help you look your best.
Does this ring a bell?
You’ve got an overflowing jewellery collection full of pieces you love (or have forgotten you love), but you’re not using it to its full potential and don’t know where to begin. Or maybe you’re just unsure about which pieces to buy that will complement each other and work for you.
1. USE RINGS, NECKLACES, OR BANGLES TO CREATE LAYERS.
Why not begin with something lighthearted? Experiment with different lengths, shapes, textures, and colours when layering rings, necklaces, bangles, and even earrings to create appealing layers.
If you’re layering necklaces, choose lengths that draw the eye up to your face. Different shapes, colours, and textures are frequently effective.
You can pretty much make an arm party with different bangles and bracelets that flash and jangle as you move. Rings can be mixed, matched, and stacked in a variety of ways; for inspiration, look through our stacking rings and cocktail rings.
If you have more than one pair of ear piercings or want to combine ear cuffs with other earrings, You can try stylish quatrefoil earrings studs in your ears that will totally change your look.
Layering and stacking are simple: simply collect a variety of necklaces and pendants of various lengths, textures, and designs and experiment with different combinations to see what works. Make a list of your favourite combinations so you can recall them later.
Rinse and repeat with different types of jewellery to up your layering game.
2. UNDERSTAND WHEN TO STOP
You know how it is with too much: sometimes it’s just too much.
If you’re using layered necklaces or a statement necklace to draw attention to your face and neckline, you may not need an armful of bangles competing for attention.
Alternatively, if you’re wearing a bold pair of statement earrings, your necklace could be more subtle or even absent (on the other hand, a bold pair of earrings with a matching necklace can sometimes work beautifully).
If you’ve accessorised with multiple pieces, consider following Coco Chanel’s advice: “Look in the mirror before leaving the house and remove one accessory.”
3. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR EARRINGS
Don’t you agree that it’s all too easy to lose track of your earrings?
Your earrings, on the other hand, are usually in the field of vision for anyone talking to you, so they are very important. Choose earrings that frame your face while also complementing your hair, eye colour, and skin tone.
If you have long hair, a good tip is to choose a colour or metal finish that will stand out more depending on your hair colour.
4. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR EARRINGS
I’m guilty of this myself: it’s so easy to wear the same pair of stud earrings for weeks on end if you have pierced ears. Or perhaps you hardly ever change them.
Changing your earrings, on the other hand, is a great way to add interest and style to your look on a daily basis. It’s also an excellent opportunity to clean your favourite pair of earrings!
You can easily alter your appearance by wearing a variety of small stud earrings on a daily basis. Alternatively, depending on your outfit, dangle earrings can add some sparkle and movement.
Digging through your jewellery collection to see what you haven’t worn in a while is a good place to start. You can also add some variety and interest to your jewellery collection by purchasing new pairs of earrings that catch your eye.
5. ACCESSORIES TO GO WITH YOUR OUTFIT
Doesn’t this appear to be straightforward? However, I am aware that this does not always occur.
Consider what item you’d most like to wear to wherever you’re going before you start dressing.
You might decide that you really want to wear a particular piece of jewellery to an event, in which case you should coordinate your clothing and other accessories accordingly. Alternatively, you could choose your outfit first and then match your jewellery and accessories to it.
Either way is fine. If you’ve taken the time to get the right combination, you should look stylish and well-dressed.
6. MATCH THE NECKLINE OF YOUR NECKLACE TO THE NECKLINE OF YOUR NECKLACE
Unless it’s a sentimental piece that you’d rather keep hidden, your necklace or pendant should be visible and complement your outfit.
For example, if you’re wearing a low V-necked top, a pendant hung in the V above your cleavage will look fantastic. Over higher necked and crew-necked clothing, a long necklace will look fantastic. With a scoop or other rounded necklines, a rounded necklace looks great.
